Workshop

São Paulo state has a long relationship with Radio Astronomy. With the aim of promoting the interaction among the São Paulo State researchers that work or are interested in Radio Astronomy, and considering the extensive experience already accumulated in the State and the construction of two excellent facilities, LLAMA and BINGO, we are pleased to announce the SPAnet Workshop on Radio Astronomy”.

This workshop has three main goals:

  1. Improve the networking among researcher in the field, especially to include the younger researchers,
  2. disseminate the working that is have been done in the field and
  3. discuss possible actions to boost the development and visibility of the field.

This workshop is organized under the auspices of SPAnet and it will be hosted by IAG-USP, in São Paulo city, on 28 September 2017.

The workshop will be a one-day meeting where we invited from undergraduate students to prominent researchers; we want to give opportunity for everyone to attend. Although the workshop focus is on the São Paulo State Radio Astronomy, researchers from all places are welcome to participate. Attendees will have the opportunity to present their work as talks. We will also organize a plenary discussion to address actions that could boost regional Radio Astronomy.

The simple and short format of the workshop was thought to make it a dynamic, easy to organize and the first of many similar meetings in the field. The idea is that meetings like this can occur frequently to keep a lively communication among researchers and produce regular contributions for the Radio Astronomy development.
